A new meaning to being in the closet

by SOHOWife on June 25, 2008

Have you ever thought, wouldn’t it be great if I could work in this closet? -No? Neither have I, until I saw this photo published on Sunset Magazine’s website. I love the idea of using a closet with accordion doors to store your workspace. If you live in a small space, like myself, and are without a natural area for an office, you may want to consider redesigning a linens or coat closet.

Keeping the clutter away when guests come over is also handy about having a stow and go office. Another article I read a while back in Forbes Small Business actually had a walk in closet office featured. The owner or the closet is a successful entrepreneur who spent $4,000 on renovating the space, using California Closet to come in and help her out with the process. She explained that she started off using a rolling desk for her computer and the ground around her bedroom to store papers. The move into the closet was a reward for her success in business.

Working from home, I am really beginning to believe that my work space affects so much of what I do on a regular basis. If my space is disorganized or dusty I am not able to get anything done until it is corrected. I also like to have a space that is designated as my workspace. When I try and get projects done on my lap top sitting around the house, I am not nearly as productive. I also love the idea of the office being hidden and taking minimal space in the house. My office is open to the the rest of the house and is takes up one of our rooms. The office is always there then taunting me, reminding me that I should be working. I’m not sure if working in a walk in closet is my cup of tea… maybe if it was a larger walk in closet…
