Over time my reasoning for Champagne Thursdays has evolved- they began to toast the person kicked off So You Think You Can Dance… during the fall winter they turned into a way to lift stress right before a big exam or when I was stuck in the middle of a paper- all of which was due 9am Friday morning- hello champagne headaches! After school they became something I looked forward to in my week and just recently they are really more of a celebration. Being a SOHO wife and worker I have weeks where business is really good and others that are not so good and champagne Thursdays help me keep the mentality that you win some and you lose some; there is always something in life to be thankful for.
I hope your next Thursday will be a time of reflection and celebration! If you choose to make it a champagne night, my favorite bottle right now is Cristalino NV Brut Cava; yum, yum, yum. Cristalino sells at Safeway for around a mere $6. You would never know the price when compared to the taste though. At wine.com the champagne made the ranks of their Wine.com 100 of 2007 list, actually making 3rd place! Wine.com comments that it is a Straw color, smooth and fresh aromas; fine and fruity palate with a dry aftertaste. Clean, dry and crisp with citrus and apple flavors.
