Our New Home Office Layout

I announced in my last post that I would be decorating my home office and this is what came out of that declaration. My sudden need to get things moving around the house came to be when Mr. Donogh opened up shop for himself with Donogh Enterprises specializing in remodels in our local area of Duvall. For whatever reason I coped with the stress of needing to raise a baby, my family business, and now his business with paint swatches and furniture moving.

My main goals in the first phase of the home office revision was:

  1. Double desks
  2. Move the bed from the soon to be nursery into the office
  3. Change the paint color from light blue to a more neutral color

Our quick fix to accomplish all three goals this Saturday was to first ditch the two desks and convert our dining table (not a favorite of mine as it was) into the double desk.  I did some research before doing this and found this desk; the closest thing to what I was looking for that someone had done DIY .

Out of that came our double desks:

He used Velcro and zip ties to keep the wires out of the way and in an orderly fashion and hung other items to the wall where he could. We now have a his and her workspace that takes up minimal room. Awesome!

I am still not super happy with the way the bed area turned out; I will want to get a new comforter and throw pillows along with new art work for the wall (current setup is from Urban Outfitters and is a bit outdated). Thanks to my mother-in-law we have a trundle bed for guests and we now have an area for the baby to nap or play while we work. Phase I is complete!

Great utilization of space! Got everything necessary to work productively AND plenty of room for baby to play and mom & dad to nap! Looks great!
